Can I get pregnant while breastfeeding?

Breastfeeding, TTC and Prolactin

The reason that breastfeeding offers a level of birth control is the hormone prolactin. Prolactin is released during breastfeeding. It suppressess ovulation. The more you breastfeed, the more prolactin is released. Even when your menstrual cycle returns you may have high levels of prolactin, depending on how often you breastfeed.

I have a naturally high prolactin due to a begnin tumour on my pituatry gland. This is controlled by drugs (Cabergoline) and my levels have fallen. My partner and i have been trying to get pregnant for 6 months without joy, does this have a link?

Hi,
I have problem with small growth on my pituatry gland as well. I'm 26 and have been trying to get pregnant for nine months now. Not on Cabergoline again yet as doctors checking other things again first. Also have Hashimoto's Throiditis which complicates things : ) Not sure how long it will take to get pregnant when back on Cabergoline but average normal couple takes 1 year. It seems like forever!
